Our main points are:
- Christians should not waste their vote
- you can have a distinctly Christian Voice in Holyrood
- you need someone to speak up for the Christian constitution of Scotland
- we will introduce legislation to hold governments to their own Manifesto pledges
- we are a balanced blend of what is best in the other major parties
- we will bring a Christian perspective to social and political decisions
- we will oppose the centralisation of Police services
- we will retain the Coastguard stations on a full time basis in Stornoway and Shetland
- we support a re-think of the closure of RAF bases and encourage interest from the space industry
- we will fight for the consumer, forgotten in this climate of spending cuts but rising prices.
- we propose a radical solution to consumer debt to help the consumer by forcing more prudent lending policies.
- we will strengthen safeguards for the vulnerable elderly, the defenceless child in the womb, and psychological support for mothers who have lost children through abortion or adoption
- we will expose the threat to freedom of speech
- we will correct the unfair and unequal Equalities legislation Vision for Scotland
- our integrated transport policy capitalizes on growing renewable energy programmes in the north and west; prioritizes the Inverness Trunk Link Road and River Ness and canal crossings, which the SNP failed to deliver; supports a new container transhipment hub for Europe at Scapa Flow, to double Scotland’s trade in goods and re-balance the flow of goods from north to south so that it does not all come from the south.
- we will integrate renewable energy projects in the north and west, a new container transhipment hub for Europe at Scapa Flow in Orkney to capitalise on international trade, and the development of the road and rail infrastructure of northern Scotland to improve Scotland’s global connectivity as part of our long-term plan for developing the northern end of Scotland to the benefit of the whole of Scotland. The Inverness Trunk Link Road and fixed tunnel crossing of the River Ness and Caledonian canal are essential to this strategic development and we will put it higher up the agenda, which the SNP has failed to do. A floating terminal as envisaged at Scapa Flow will save on port capital and operating costs, reduce the time to completion, save CO2 emissions, as well as provide in-built flexibility, one of the Scottish Christian Party’s principles for future capital projects.
- we will work towards re-balancing Scotland’s transport infrastructure to improve the north to south trade links which must come if the north of Scotland becomes the energy capital of western Europe. This will improve Scotland’s trading position and involve the whole of Scotland in future growth. A high quality strategic port on the Forth serving expanding European markets will help reverse the long-distance trucking of Scottish trade via ports in the south of England.
- To this end, we will promote the development of a Maritime Administration/Authority to take forward a number of strategic Scottish maritime initiatives as part of an Integrated Maritime Policy with the aim to expand trade in a sustainable manner and to generate economic growth.
- Climate change is a God-given opportunity and challenge for international co-operation which has not existed hitherto.
- we will help small businesses and youth unemployment by improving apprenticeship regulations. This is a more comprehensive solution than promising a particular number of apprenticeships.
- we believe in small government.
The consumer at the centre of our recovery
