Manifesto development

The Scottish Executive Committee is working on the Manifesto for the Holyrood election.

The severe winter weather has stimulated the Committee to meet by Conference Call to work regularly on the Manifesto. This has enabled wider and more representative input from Shetland, Stornoway, Inverness, Falkirk, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Renfrewshire.

We will be pleased to have further input from Christians throughout Scotland who can email their suggestions here or phone with their contributions to 01463 796952.

The areas of responsibility for the Scottish Parliament are:-
• Economic Development

• Health
• Housing
• Law and Home Affairs
• Local Government
• Social Work
• Sport and the Arts
• Statistics, Public Registers and Records
• Transport

We continue to recruit Christians in all the Scottish Regions and we encourage Christians within each Region to contact each other for support, ideas and information.

Some contact details appear on each Regional page under the drop-down menu. If you would like to be included, please respond using the link on the relevant page. This will help to facilitate Christians in these Regions finding out about each other, putting them in touch with each other, and sharing their concerns.

Stop homosexual 'marriage'

The Scottish Government consultation about redefining marriage to include homosexual couples has finished. The documentation is explained here. Christians are encouraged to write to their MSPs to register their opposition to any legislation along this line, and to write to the SNP Government to encourage them to drop this idea. We already have polygamy recognised by UK legislation. The SCP response to the SNP Government's consultation is available for download.

Local Council elections 3rd May 2012

Do you have a SCP candidate in your area? If you do, give your first vote to the SCP, and if he or she does not succeed, your vote will not be wasted because it will automatically transfer to your next viable choice.
This means that your choice will count twice. This may not work if you do it the other way round; a second vote for the SCP will simply not register if the SCP candidate does not have enough number 1 votes.

Youcef Nadarkhani received a death sentence in Iran for apostasy (abandoning Islam - which he says he never followed). He is currently on trial in Rasht. He could be executed by hanging at any time.
