Marriage being air-brushed out of the picture
28 February 2011
The word ‘marriage’ has vanished from Government statistics on conceptions.
The Christian Institute reports that official figures lump marriages and civil partnerships together under the label “legal partnership”.
Orwellian Newspeak is well on its way in British society. In George Orwell’s book Nineteen Eighty-Four Oldspeak is intended to completely eclipse Newspeak before 2050. We are well on course.
There are many examples of Newspeak: gay instead of homosexual, partners instead of spouses. There was a day when the capacity to discriminate was considered to be a sign of maturity, but now discrimination is Oldspeak. It may be that marriage will soon join it not only as an outmoded word but even de facto (“in fact”, for those who don’t think we should use Latin phrases).
“Dumbing down” is the order of the day but the Scottish Christian Party is engaged in the process of “wising up” the people of Scotland, especially concerning the down-grading of Scottish society.

- 23 Feb 2012 Matthew Parris recommends deleting ‘marriage’ from legislation. It appears that marriage is the new discrimination which must be removed. Parris is a former Tory MP and is in a civil partnership with David Cameron’s chief speech writer. This is another reflection upon Cameron’s judgment.
