Politicians plumb new depths of inanity
16 April 2011
The Government is consulting with Commonwealth countries about the law of succession.
The approaching marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton has high-lighted again the law about male succession to the throne.
Nick Clegg, Deputy Prime Minister, has called the current law “old fashioned”. What a profound level of argument!
Dr Evan Harris, a former Lib Dem MP, on the BBC news said: “It wouldn’t take any Parliamentary time at all. It only takes a one clause measure.”
So the constitutional fall-out of such a measure is to be ignored by a one liner which takes no time to discuss! One is reminded of the comment that one gets the leaders that one deserves.
The level of political debate is plumbing new depths of vacuous nonsense. This “government in a hurry” must slow down and stop. It is time to vote Christian to have some common sense.
